University of Stuttgart - IKTD Invests in Granstudio's DigiPHY Adaptive Seating Buck

[Turin, 8 February 2024]

The Institute for Engineering Design and Industrial Design (IKTD) at the University of Stuttgart and Granstudio proudly announce a pioneering partnership to advance automotive interior design engineering education and research.

Under this new collaboration, IKTD will integrate Granstudio's advanced DigiPHY seating-

buck system into its curriculum and research facilities to provide students and researchers with access to cutting-edge phygital technology to develop and evaluate new interior design engineering concepts.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Remlinger, overseeing the Chair of Interior Design Engineering, shared his excitement:

"The integration of the DigiPHY system on our campus marks a significant advancement in our educational and research capabilities. It's an opportunity for both our institute and students to engage with cutting-edge technology in car interior design and analysis. Our experience with the combination of Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs), virtual reality, and seating buck mockups dates back to 1998. However, the automated, precise, and versatile nature of the DigiPHY system marks a new epoch in our capabilities."

The shift towards digitalization in mobility underscores the importance of interior design in vehicle differentiation and user experience. The DigiPHY system will play a crucial role in the development of innovative approaches to design, ergonomics, HMI, UI, and UX, ensuring a focus on human-centered and user-friendly product designs.

Granstudio's CEO Lowie Vermeersch comments on the acquisition:

"We are excited and honored that the University of Stuttgart has selected our DigiPHY system to support their trailblazing research and education efforts. This will have a significant positive impact on the automotive research, driving innovation and paving the way for the phygital transformation in vehicle interior design engineering."

This initiative reflects a shared dedication between the University of Stuttgart and Granstudio to advance automotive interior design, with the DigiPHY system set to enhance research outcomes and educational experiences, ultimately benefiting the broader automotive and mobility sector.
